$ETHENA USDtb Plummets 37.8%: RWA Protocol Loses Capital Amid Panic
Ethena USDtb-an RWA (real-world assets) protocol on Ethereum-has lost nearly 38% of its TVL, dropping to $452.6M. This represents an outflow of approximately $274M in a single move. These events coincide with a global market crash: ETH is down 3.4%, major cryptocurrencies are in the red, and the fear index has dropped to 25 (Extreme Fear).
The RWA sector promised security through its peg to real-world assets, but today that’s not enough: depositors are withdrawing stablecoins en masse amid volatility and a decline in confidence. Futures funding is also in the red-ETH is trading with negative funding (-0.0011).
What Happened
- TVL fell by 37.8%-outflows are rapid and massive
- The macro backdrop is aggressive: global market cap down 1.65% over the past 24 hours; BTC dominance at 56.19%
- FNG is at the “Extreme Fear” level-market sentiment is in the red
What does this mean
For users, this means liquidity risk and additional pressure on Ethena stablecoins. RWA-backed stablecoins were positioned as an alternative to traditional USDT/USDC, but today’s events show that capital outflows are affecting everyone, even conservative protocols.
For the market, this is a sign of panic in DeFi. When even RWA loses 38%, it means users are panicking and withdrawing everything they can. A recovery depends on macro factors-we need a rebound in BTC and Ethereum. Until that happens, the outflow will continue.
