$MSTR: 4 hours on Solana and already a live mint plus a frozen LP
What Happened
The Strategy (MSTR) token launched on Solana with a flashy name but little fanfare. In 4 hours, the price rose by 2% (from $95 to $98), with a daily volume of $111k, liquidity of $287k, and an FDV of $511k-a ratio of 1.77x, which is within the normal range. But the distribution metrics tell a completely different story.
The token was mentioned by the @solana account on our watchlist (0 followers in the system, but that just means it’s a bot account or a new profile), which usually triggers a buying frenzy. Instead, we see a modest 2% increase with 591 buys versus 343 sells-a classic sign of a lack of organic interest.
Distribution: Concentration and Control
This is the key point. Here’s what the contract reveals:
- The top 10 holders control 75.7% of the supply, with 38.75% sitting in a single wallet-this isn’t an investment token; it’s pool control.
- A total of just 101 holders-for a token that the market supposedly drove up, this is a graveyard.
- The mint authority is active-the creators can mint more supply at any moment and dump it on you.
- The LP is not locked at all (0% lock-up)-liquidity could vanish right now, leaving you with an unwithdrawable balance.
- The freeze authority is active-your wallets can be frozen without your consent.
According to launch standards, this scores 34/100: only the basics have been met (sales are working, the deployer doesn’t hold the supply personally, 0% insiders). Everything else is in the red.
Why this is a scam
Based on our pattern database:
- Token < 24 hours + active minting: a rug pull in 77% of cases (our sample size n=31).
- Top 10 holders hold > 60%: 2x+ growth in only 28% of cases, but a rug pull in 17%-still a red flag.
- LP is not locked: even with active social media (which is present here-a mention from the watchlist), a rug pull occurs in 71% of cases.
- A +2% increase following a mention from the watchlist is abnormal. Usually, such mentions trigger a one-time pump of at least 5-15%. The lack of a pump reaction smacks of insider trading: control is already concentrated among the top 10; they’re waiting for the right moment to dump, not to ride the momentum.
This is the first time this project has appeared in our database-there’s no track record, no previous tokens. This is not a green flag given these on-chain conditions.
Final Assessment
MSTR is a typical Solana scam by a new deployer: concentration in the top 10, active control (mint + freeze), and LP acting as a conduit rather than a liquidity wall. A mention from the watchlist could be either a mistake by our radar (a bot mention) or part of social camouflage.
Age of 4 hours + all red flags at once = there’s no entry window here; this is a dump window.
