Degen Risk Management: How to Play at a Casino Without Going Broke

Honesty first and foremost: meme coins aren’t investments-they’re bets. That’s not the problem-the problem is when bets are treated like investments. The rules of survival are boring, but they work.

Rules for Betting

• Stake size: for a single memecoin-an amount whose loss doesn’t change anything. The classic rule is up to 1% of your risk bank per position, and the risk bank itself should be a small portion of your capital. It’s the number of rounds, not the stake size, that determines success.
• Lock in profits along the way: cash out at the first multiple of your initial investment-anything beyond that is just playing into the casino’s profit margin. “Held until it hit zero after ×10” is the sector’s most common obituary.
• Enter after verification, not after a tweet: three on-chain checks (guide) take just a few minutes; a FOMO entry at the peak of a candle is the main price you pay for impatience.
• No averaging down: a meme coin without a valid thesis that drops 70% isn’t a “bargain”-it’s a warning sign.

A journal is your main tool

Record every trade: entry thesis, position size, exit plan, and result. After 50 entries, you’ll see your actual win rate and, most importantly, your loss patterns (everyone has the same ones: FOMO entries, holding on too long, increasing bets after a winning streak).
